Matthew Walker Pudding Run 10k - 2019

Just missed a sub 50m squelching round in the pouring rain. Got a nice T-shirt, a giant pudding and a tree - plus water, mulled wine and a mince pie at the finish.

Sherwood Pines 10k - 2019

Really nice surroundings for a run, quite flat, nice weather.

Ran to tempo but didn't push it, concentrated on being 'present'. Not far off a PB!

Two 'laps' in a funny sort of figure eight. No T-Shirt - wooden medal/coaster.

Nottingham Castle Rock 10k 2019

Nothing too crazy before my next big race - a nice evening 51:01 and rocked in at 156th place. A T-shirt and lots of free food!!!

And so nice to meet up with ex-pupil Damien

Asda Nottingham 10k 2019

This was my first 10k as I restarted my running 'career' back in 2017 but this year it was a totally different course through the Nottingham Uni campus. Cutting through the middle rather than doing two loops (like the Castle Rock 10k) revealed some beautiful scenery that I didn't even know existed despite having lived here for 20 years.

It was a family affair and each one set a PB - including me! This is what a PB face looks like!

Whereas this is my 'don't look weird for the camera! You're looking weird! OK, lean into it. Make it seem deliberate" - face.

Monsal Trail 10k 2019

A lovely day and a nice easy course

Braved a very dodgy calf. No PB but just glad to finish in one piece

One lucky runner got a spot prize of a bakewell pudding!

and the back of the shirt was less embarrassing than the front

Nottingham Formula One Castle Rock 10k 2018

Formula One Circuit Crew Castle Rock 10k (formerly Jaegermeister 10k) was the first race I ever did. About 10 years ago I tried to get into running, did 3 or 4 10k's over a couple of years, then tore my calf muscle (twice) got gastroenteritis and gave up. Piled on more weight and thought I was too old to ever get fit enough to run a marathon. Last year I did a the The Asda Foundation Nottingham 10k and thought I was having a stroke. But since then I've run a couple of marathons and signed up for some bigger and better races. And tonight I went back to where it all started - pounding the pavements round Nottingham Uni.

NEXT STOP - facing off against Mo Farah at the Great North Run!

Spooky Sprint Nottingham 10k 2017

Got into the swing of things by dressing up as Alice Cooper.

Everyone on The Facebook said I looked like Ozzy Osbourne. One runner called me Bob Marley. Ah well. Did a Parkrun this morning that was my first run since the marathon, my ankle was on the mend till I twisted it in a pothole about 3/4 of the way around. But I still managed to keep going AND FINISHED IN 29th PLACE!!!!!

Not bad for toddling round in the dark.

Time 55:06
Position: 29th
Male Vet Pos: 8th

Here's the pic to prove it!

Leicester 10k

All sort of aches and pains but set a new PB 50:12.
Got a medal this time - free engraving and a free massage after (and a free upgrade to first class on the way home!)

After the race I ran the last few miles of the Leicester marathon course just to check it out. When I do it for real I probably won't

1) run so slowly
2) stop off to buy a bag
3) stop off to have lunch at Burger King*

*unless I'm WAY ahead of schedule...

In other news I'm now down to 12st 1lb

Nottingham 10k

Survived!
59:12.
Help! by The Beatles was playing as I crossed the starting line. I took that as a good omen. Got nerve spasms in my top lip after the race which made me think I was having a stroke. Finished just in front of a man that threw up at the finish line.
